The October 2026 white paper, “Pricing In Resilience: The Future of Financial Services for Soil Health,” is a joint publication by Transformational Investing in Food Systems (TIFS), Triangle Digital, and the University of Michigan’s Center for Digital Asset Finance. It argues that regenerative agriculture has reached a market maturity moment. Farm finance is shifting from grants and subsidies toward capital markets that price soil health as a measurable financial asset. The paper traces five converging forces that are turning environmental credit demand from discretionary to structural: regulation, corporate climate commitments, trade and tariff policy, compliance markets, and sovereign and municipal buyers. It then looks at the financial innovations now emerging to meet that demand. These include soil-centered crop insurance, carbon warrants, insurance-backed environmental credits, enhanced digital measurement, reporting, and verification, AI-driven field validation, and credit underwriting based on higher yields. Together these tools can lower the cost of capital for farmers and reduce the risks of transitioning. Written for lenders, insurers, investors, and regenerative agriculture leaders alike, the paper sets out a pathway to bridge the “Missing Middle” and move the agricultural transition from an aspiration we fund into a market we build.
